Salon Perfect Nail Polish Haul and Swatches

Hello there,

Few days ago, while I was at Wal-Mart, I saw a new display of Salon Perfect nail colors. I was particularly interested in the glitter ones because they looked different from the typical glitter polish you'd seen. They are much smaller glitters and they look almost like little beads. I wasn't sure if these were falling into the texture nail polish trend or not but I had to try and find out. One thing I can say for sure is that they are definitely not sparkly glitters. They look almost matte. All of them come with a clear base.

First, the odd ball of the pack is Flamingo Flair. I had to pick it up because it's a bright neon coral polish and I don't have any color like it. My camera had a hard time taking a good picture of it. It's much more neon and brighter in person. Definitely a loud and fun summer color. The formula is very pigmented, somewhat on the thicker side and applies pretty streaky. I needed to do at least 3 coats just to minimize the look of streaks. It dries down to an almost matte finish. I would recommend adding a top coat over it because it helps smooth out the application.

Zapped has a mix of small light green and small teal glitters. I took a picture of how it looks in one coat so you get an idea about what I'm dealing with. The glitters aren't spread out evenly. You can build up to an opaque coverage if you do 3 thick coats. However, it's every hard to keep the layers looking even cause the glitters just build up wherever they want. It ends up looking like a textured polish without really being a true textured polish. It looks better and smoother if you paint your nails first with another color as base and only do two coats of glitters.

Jolt has a mix of yellow and orange small glitters in a clear base. Pretty much all of these glitter polishes have the same consistency. It looks gritty and uneven in 3 coats. They look best with a colored base.

Kaboom has a mix of teal green and light green small glitters in a clear base. I believe the colors are the same as Zapped, except that Kaboom has about the same amount of both colors. From here down, I didn't bother applying the glitters on their own since you already have an idea of how they look.

Shocked as a mix of blue and pink glitters in a clear base. This is my least favorite out of the pack. Looks kinda boring to me.

Overall, I think these new glitters are interesting but I was rather underwhelmed once I tried them and wasn't really happy about how uneven they applied. I am thinking about returning them. I'm likely to keep Flamingo Flair.

Have you seen these? Would you try them after seeing this post?

Price: $3.99 or less (I'm not 100% sure if that is the correct pricing. I might be off a few cents but it's definitely less than $4.00)
